The government was planning district-wise budget for the country from the year after the next fiscal year, Finance Minister AMA Muhith said today.
"My target is to formulate a district-wise budget. It is impossible this year. But, I'm assuring you that we will launch it in some districts as a pilot programme next year," the minister said at a workshop on gender budget at the Cirdap auditorium in the capital.
He said the government would formulate an integrated budget within next five years merging the development and non-development ones.
In the next budget, separate allocations will be made for women at least in the budget of education, health and social welfare ministries.
The government is also trying to give separate allocation for women in the food and disaster management ministry's budget, Muhith said.
"If we can divide the budget into different sections, the impact of the budget will be wide," Muhith added.
The workshop also emphasized the importance of changing people's approaches towards women.
